Sensex, Nifty hit new record high

The major indices for India, the BSE and NSE Nifty 50, both reached new intraday records. While the Nifty index increased by about 90 points to a new record high of 18,611.05., the Sensex index increased by 347.9 points or 0.56% to 62,686.84. Bank Nifty was only slightly trading in the green. The top Sensex gainers by more than 3% were shares of Reliance Industries.

 While the sectoral indexes of Nifty fluctuated between gains and losses, the overall market was trading in the green. The biggest loss is Nifty Metal, which is down 1.15%, while Nifty Oil & Gas is up 2.19%. The Nifty Small cap 100 is up 1.07%, and the Nifty Midcap 100 is up 0.72%, reflecting positive market activity overall. The India VIX, a measure of volatility, is up 1.85% at 13.58.
